Q&A with Felix for National Apprenticeship Week
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re shining a spotlight on Felix, one of our signmaking apprentices at Greens.
Felix is currently completing his Signmaking Apprenticeship with Hull Training and Adult Education, gaining hands-on experience across our manufacturing departments while building skills for a long-term career in the signage industry.
Below, Felix answers some questions about his apprenticeship journey so far.
Q1) What made you choose an apprenticeship over other routes?
"I didn't get on well with school, so I knew I wanted a more hands-on job where I could earn whilst learning."
Q2) How have you found balancing practical work and coursework?
"Pretty easy—I'm only at college 1 day a week, so I have the rest of the week to focus on work."
Q3) What does a typical day look like for you at Greens?
"I usually follow a sign through the factory, going through different departments, usually starting at Pacer or Fabrication and going to Spray, then Vinyl."
Q4) What skills have you learned that you didn’t expect?
"Welding 100% of a sign – I didn’t think I’d be able to make a sign from start to finish."
Q5) What are you most proud of working on during your apprenticeship?
"Working on big-name brands like B&Q and WHSmith."
Q6) Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others and why?
"Yes definitely, you learn so much. You develop good life skills, and it’s a bonus that you earn money while learning."
