#ChallengeGreen

“What will be left for children like me, If you keep on throwing plastic into the sea”

Charlotte - aged 8

One evening, 8-year-old Charlotte penned an impromptu poem about the future of our planet. Her heartfelt words deeply resonated with her father, Lawrence, sparking a transformative journey for the family business.

Charlotte's poem and its innocent yet powerful plea for a greener world became the catalyst for our #ChallengeGreen initiative. From using eco-friendly materials to implementing energy-efficient production methods, we continually strive to reduce our environmental impact.

Today, Greens the Signmakers is a leading example of sustainability in the sign-making industry. We were honoured to have our work recognised, winning the Environment and Sustainability Award at the Hull Live Business Awards 2022 and the Sustainability in Signage Award at the Sign & Wrap Awards 2023.

Our Net Zero mission

#ChallengeGreen is as simple as

  • 01

    Customers

We work with our customers to offer more sustainable signage solutions, considering the materials used, the energy efficiency of product and manufacturing, and the project's overall carbon footprint.

  • 02

    The Team

Our #ChallengeGreen team meet monthly to discuss how we can make Greens greener: promoting sustainable practices in the workplace and developing our services and products.

  • 03

    Community

We work with local and national initiatives to progress on our sustainability journey, growing from the learnings of others and sharing our findings to aid other companies on their route to Net Zero.

Our Sustainability Figures

  • 100%

    Renewable energy

Our solar panels produced over 70,000 kWh of renewable energy in 2023. We used 70% of this for operations and manufacturing, with the remaining 21,000 kWh of green energy sold to the grid.

  • Sustainable

    Materials

Recyclable materials, non-toxic ink and solar-powered lighting - these are but a few of the ways we are developing our offering to provide our customers with more sustainable signage.

  • 100,000+

    Electric vehicle miles

Our company's electric vehicles have travelled over 100,000 miles, cutting our carbon emissions. Our factory solar panels powered just under half of this mileage.
