We are finalists at the Sign & Wrap Awards 2024!
Next month, we are honoured to attend The Sign & Wrap Awards, shortlisted for the highly-coveted Sustainability in Signage Award. Following our win in this category last year, we are proud to be up for the award for the second consecutive year.
This year, our entry highlights our work with The Salvation Army UK and Ireland Territory at their donation centre in Goole, East Yorkshire, and reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Our entry focuses on several key actions we took to manage the environmental impact of this project:
1. Used Cardboard for Internal Perimeter Signage
Previously produced with non-recyclable plastic, we chose white-faced printable cardboard over other recyclable materials as it was a recognisably recyclable material - considering the sign's lifecycle. This option also provided the perfect backdrop for their branding, which we printed using water-based ink to ensure recyclability.
2. Installed a Solar-Powered Totem
The clear bonus here is the utilisation of renewable energy to light the totem. More importantly, by being self-sufficient, this totem doesn't require the car park digging up and installation of armoured cable for a power supply. A substantial decrease in carbon emissions compared to other solutions. With a steel frame and aluminium cladding, this totem is easily recyclable, whether at the end of its life or simply updating.
3. Manufactured All Signage in Our Solar-Powered Factory
We manufacture all our signage solutions using renewable energy from our solar panels. Doing so profoundly decreases the environmental impact of producing our signage, especially when considering the low energy efficiency of some otherwise sustainable processes, such as printing with water-based ink.
4. Attended Site Visits in Company Electric Vehicles
Our company's electric vehicles have travelled over 100,000 miles collectively, almost half of this powered by the factory's solar panels. We also actively work with suppliers to limit deliveries and better manage our Scope 3 emissions.
Our collaborations with the likes of Oh Yes! Net Zero and Steve Lister have been instrumental in advancing our sustainability initiatives. By sharing our methods for reducing environmental impact, we aim to inspire and assist other businesses in making meaningful changes.
We look forward to the awards and continuing our journey towards a more sustainable future.
